will.i.am is one of the smartest guys I've ever met. He's one of those people that somehow just knows a lot about every subject. The way his mind works reminds me of a mixture of Kanye and Jaden Smith. When he approached me to partner with him on Buttons, it seemed like a no-brainer to check out. He told me he wanted different people from all realms of celebrity and fashion to get involved—a model, an athlete, a musician. Prior to me coming on board, he also partnered with Vogue's André Leon Talley, and together they decided they wanted me to be involved.
I remember meeting will.i.am in LA with my mom. When I first saw the earphones, I was so genuinely impressed by them. I'm young, I'm in the industry, I'm in the world of tech with my app and this is all my generation—so I feel like I really got it and believed in it 100% from the beginning. I was basically like, "This is SICK. This is so awesome. I've got to be a part of this because it's SO cool."
Now I own a piece of the company and I'm so proud of the product! It's so impressive what will.i.am has created. His genius amazes me.
